Neurodiversity-Affirming Training & Education
At Pink Zebra Psychology, I offer Neuro-Affirming Training and Professional Development (PD) for schools, childcare centres, kindergartens, universities, and other places of education, as well as workplaces. Beginning February 2026, these trainings will be available in person across Melbourne and online Australia-wide, ensuring accessible and meaningful learning for all organisations.
These workshops are grounded in the Neurodiversity-Affirming Paradigm and the Social Model of Disability, recognising that neurological differences such as but not limited to, Autism, ADHD, auDHD, Giftedness, Twice-Exceptionality (2e), and Pervasive Drive for Autonomy/Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) are natural forms of human variation, not deficits to be corrected. Each neurotype comes with its own strengths, communication styles, sensory experiences, learning preferences, and regulatory needs.
Training explores an in-depth understanding of neurodivergence, the push-pull effect of multiple neurotypes interacting within the same individual, and the complexities that arise when neurodivergence intersects with culture, gender, sexuality, and other forms of diversity. These layers all influence how a person experiences the world, relates to others, regulates their internal state, engages in learning or work, and expresses their identity.
My approach integrates:
The latest evidence-based research
The neurodiversity-affirming models
Lived experience perspectives
Ongoing clinical experience with children, adolescents, adults, and families
Specialist training in autism, ADHD, AuDHD, PDA, giftedness, and 2e profiles
These trainings support teams to deepen their understanding of:
The diversity within neurodivergence
Strengths-based approaches to learning, behaviour, and communication
Sensory differences and environmental adaptations
Executive functioning differences across neurotypes
The role of trauma, burnout, and masking/camouflaging
Recognising the internalised expressions of different neurotypes, and moving beyond the stereotypes that often lead to missed or delayed identification
Autonomy-supportive, low-demand frameworks (including PDA-informed practice)
Creating genuinely inclusive spaces that honour identity, culture, and safety
Understanding how to reduce barriers and create genuinely accessible, supportive environments for neurodivergent people
Strategies that reduce distress, increase engagement, and build meaningful connections
Workshops can be tailored to each organisation’s needs. They may include introductory education, whole-staff professional development, leadership workshops, classroom and workplace strategy sessions, or deep-dive training into specific neurotypes or intersectionalities.
Please note, this is not behaviour management training.
This is education centred on respect, collaboration, identity, and accessibility; empowering organisations to support neurodivergent people in ways that are compassionate, affirming, and grounded in current evidence-based research, my own lived experience, and my commitment to ongoing neuro-affirming professional development and supervision.
While I offer a range of neuroaffirming assessments, therapy, and professional training, I do not currently offer supervision services.
